The Yellow and Mauve had to fight really hard to overturn an initial upset in order to record their first-ever win in the group phase of the competition

Medeama SC defeated Algerian side CS Belouizdad 2-1 in the Group stage of Caf Champions League at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Friday.

After suffering a 3-0 hammering against Al Ahly on opening day of the group stage, Medeama had to rally from behind once again to pick their maiden victory in the competition.

R. Benguit scored the first goal from the spot kick by the 39th minute after the visitors won a penalty before Daniel Lomotey made it 1-1 six minutes later.

After the break, Medeama coach Evans Adotey stepped up his tactics and made several tactical changes to keep their visitors from causing further havoc.

Kamaradini rose above his marker deep in additional time to head home the winner as Medeama breath life back into their campaign.

With defeat starring at the face of Belouizdad, they pushed men forward in search of equaliser but it was too little too late.

Medeama will host Tanzanian giants Young Africans next week at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in their bid to make it six points from two games at home and possibly gatecrash into the lead depending on other results.
