Asante Kotoko communications director Obed Acheampong has rejected suggestions that the club have completed the signing of Daniel Darkwah in a two-year deal from Aduana Stars after pictures of him holding Kotoko jersey got leaked on social media.
The 22-year-old was spotted in Kumasi over the weekend and AshesGyamera understands that he is currently lodging at Sports Hotel, which is owned by Kotoko’s chief executive officer, but Acheampong insists nothing official has been concluded between them and the player.
“Daniel Darkwa is a good player but Asante Kotoko have not signed him as it is being circulated in the media,” Acheampong told Abusua FM.
“I do not know where all these artworks are coming from. Officially, he has not been signed and he can’t be regarded as a Kotoko player now.
“This doesn’t mean he can’t join us but he is not one of our players and the record must be set straight,” he added.
Acheampong, however, insists Kotoko will defeat Hearts of Oak in the semifinals of the 2018 Ghalca G6 tournament schedule for Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Wednesday.
“We are treating tomorrow’s match against Hearts of Oak as a pre-season fixture and there is no pressure on us. Hearts need this cup badly. They need this cup more than anything on this earth but it doesn’t mean we will lose,” he said.
Despite the denial, our outfit understands that Darkwah will be unveiled after the game against Hearts.
