The midfielder netted a brace as the Porcupine Warriors thrashed the Royals by 3-1 in front of their home supporters

Asante Kotoko displayed a splendid performance after they thrashed Legon Cities FC 3-1 away from home at the Accra Sports Stadium in matchday 2 of Ghana Premier League on Friday.

Before the game, Legon were being cheered on the evidence of their recent powerful branding which has gotten everyone talking on social media, while Kotoko’s were vociferous by virtue of their dominance in the domestic tournaments and other CAF Inter-club competitions.
Very early in the game Emmanuel Gyamfi teared off from his marker on the left wing and produced a cross but the hosts defenders dealt with the attack.
Kotoko kept on pilling pressure as Imoro Ibrahim’s potential goal cross was also headed to corner before the Legonites broke the deadlock againstΒ  the run of play through Greek international Papadopoulos Panayotis by the 10th minute.
Romeo Oppong sent in a cross and Panayotis cooly connected the ball for the opener.
However, Kotoko regrouped and Songne Yacouba could have restored parity by the 32nd minute but the Burkinabe striker missed a huge opportunity after being played through by Mudasiru.
A minute later, Yacouba made amends for his earlier miss by setting up Augustine Okrah for the equaliser.
After the break, Kotoko continued from where they left and it eventually paid off. Gyamfi intercepted a pass from Legon’s Suleiman and easily sent his last ditch effort past onrushing goalkeeper Fatau Dauda by 58th minute.
The midfielder made it 3-1 ten minutes later after he connected a cross from Yacouba into the yawning net.
Although, Legon pushed for a goal in their attempt to at least get a draw, Kotoko defence were resolute to record their second win in a row and now top the log with six points.

Ghana FA sack Kwesi Appiah & all national team coaches

The country’s football top hierarchy has relieved the underfire coach and other coaches from their officers with immediate effect

Ghana FA has officially sacked Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah and all other national team coaches including Maxwell Konadu (Local Black Stars) and Ibrahim Tanko (Black Meteors), AshesGyamera.com can confirm.

The decision was taken at a lengthy meeting Thursday afternoon where Prosper Harrison Addo was also named as the new general secretary.

Appiah made a return to the position in 2017 and failed to qualify Ghana to the 2018 Fifa World Cup as well failing to win the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations staged in Egypt.

Although, reports suggested that his expired contract will be extended, the new FA under Kurt Okraku believes it is time to bid him farewell.

“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has dissolved the technical teams of all national teams with immediate effect,” a statement read.

“The decision affects both male and female national teams. The GFA extends its appreciation to all coaches and members of the respective national teams for their contributions to our teams and Ghana football. We wish them all the best in their endeavors.”

 

 

Harrison named new Ghana Football Association general secretary

Ghana Football Association has appointed Prosper Harrison Addo Esq as the General Secretary, AshesGyamera.com can confirm.

Addo is a known face in the country’s football matters as he previously served on the disciplinary committee board as the chairman under the erstwhile Kwesi Nyantakyi administration.

Formerly as a sports journalist with Radio Universe, Addo is also a worker at Telecommunication giant MTN as a Senior Manager, Compliance.

It is unclear whether he will resign from his role with the Telco company or combine the two works.

The motive behind the rally is to pull attract supporters and admirers to the stadium and also solicit for financial assistance in their bid to pick their first win of the campaign.

Faisal were humbled 4-1 by Dreams in the league’s opener away from home at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu and hence, would be looking for their first victory on Sunday

While Ashanti Gold would be searching for their second win in a row after the victory over Great Olympics last weekend, Faisal are expected to double their efforts before standing a chance of even picking a point against the 2014-15 league winners.

The In Sha Allah boys were relegated in 2014 and only got promoted to the top flight after congressmen approved for an 18 team league last year.

Hearts of Oak have parted ways with coach Kim Grant after only one game in the Ghana Premier League.

The former Ghana international saw his side losing their first league game at home last Sunday against Berekum Chelsea, a situation which pushed the club’s board of directors to terminate his contract.

Grant has become the twenth coach to be sacked by the Phobians in the last decade.

Grant wrote: “Dear Phobians, I have now left my post as director of football and head coach of Accra hearts of Oak and would like to thank you unconditionally for the amazing support throughout this last year.”

Fatau Dauda joins Legon Cities FC ahead of Kotoko’s visit

The shot-stopper finalised the deal on Tuesday and could be in line for his debut this weekend

Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda has signed for Legon Cities FC after several weeks of training with them.

Formerly known as Wa All Stars, Legon Cities made their rebranding count on opening day of the Ghana Premier League season when they shared the spoils 2-2 with Liberty Professionals on Sunday.

Dauda, who last played in the country for Ghana Premier League side Ashanti Gold, could make his bow on Friday when Legon host Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium.

He was Ghana’s first choice goalkeeper during the 2014 Fifa World Cup staged in Brazil.

Emmanuel Gyasi elated to end 2019 with a goal

The young striker snatched all three points for his side in the last game of 2019 on Sunday night

Ghanaian striker Emmanuel Gyasi was on target for Spezia when they defeated Salernitana 2-1 in Serie B last game of 2019 and the striker couldn’t hide his excitement.

Antonino Ragusa scored the opening goal for Sepzia by the fifth minute after he connected a pass from Juilio Maggiore and calmly slotted in his effort.

Although, the visitors proved to be strong and constantly surged forward for the equaliser after the break, Gyasi broke their hearts on 83rd minute.

The 25-year-old latched on to a pass from Matteo Ricci, kept his composure in the box and sent a powerful shot to beat goalkeeper Alessandro Micai at the his first post.

Substitute Lamin Jallow got a consolation for the visitors but it was too late to stage a come back.

“Of course I’m happy to have gotten the winner for my side. It was my first goal of the season and it came at the right time,” Gyasi said.

“Now we are on break but I will continue to work hard and hope that 2020 will bring a lot of goals and wins for us to at least push of a playoff slot.

“We can still qualify so I will do my best for the team next year and I know my teammates have almost the same mentality as mine,” he added.

Kotoko’s Augustine Sefah signs contract extension

The defender has signed a new deal with the Porcupine Warriors after impressing new coach

Asante Kotoko defender has penned down a one-year contract extension with the club few weeks after he was given another opportunity to train with the first team.

Following the sacking of former boss Kjetil Zachariasen, Kotoko initially made plans not to renew the defender’s contract but new coach Maxwell Konadu had other plans for him and he has grabbed that opportunity successfully.

“We are pleased to announce that defender, Augustine Sefah has signed a one-year contract extension with the club,” a club statement.

“The player, who is known to be a big game player, signed the new deal at the club secretariat in Kumasi on Monday. The right-back’s initial two-and-a-half contract was set to expire on December 31, 2019, but his new deal will keep him at the Baba Yara Stadium until December 2020,” the statement added.

Sefah was full of praise to his coach and promised to prove his worth this season in the league and other competitions.

“I want to thank the coach and the management for the confidence they have shown in me,” Sefah said.

“I have given my hundred per cent to this club and promises to increase it even more. Aside from the game, we have got players that need some leaders in the dressing room and my other colleagues and I will play that role very well.”

Although he didn’t feature in Kotoko’s 1-0 home victory over Eleven Wonders on Sunday, he is likely to make his first appearance under Konadu on Friday when they travel to play Legon Cities FC.
