The former Dortmund technical team member has been relieved of his duties with the Black Stars barely sixty days to the start of the mundial

Ghana Football Association has officially announced the sacking of head coach Otto Addo following series of uninspiring performances.

Addo, 52, took over the Black Stars in 2024 and although, he managed to qualify the West African giants to the FIFA World Cup, his general performance has always been a thing of worry.

He has lost his last four matches including a 5-1 defeat to Austria and 2-1 loss on Monday to Germany.

“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has parted ways with the Head Coach of the senior men’s national team (Black Stars), Otto Addo effective immediately,” an official statement read.

“The Association wishes to thank Otto Addo sincerely for his contribution to the team and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavours. The Ghana Football Association will communicate the new technical direction of the Black Stars in due course,” the statement added.

Ghana has been paired with England, Panama and Mexico in Group I at the World Cup. They will face Mexico and Wales in their last preparatory games in May and June respectively.
