The Walias turned the game on its head to pick their maiden win in the qualifiers as they hope to make it out of Group G
Ethiopia left it late as they defeated Zimbabwe 1-0 in the Group of 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers in Addis Ababa on Tuesday.
A goal at the death of the game by Asechalew Tamene changed the narrative as the Walias Antelopes picked their first victory of the qualifiers.
Ethiopia narrowly lost to Ghana on opening day last week but recovered in time to make amends thanks to Tamene.
They have now moved from the bottom of the group to third position with three points, tied on the same points with Ghana and only a point behind leaders South Africa.
Ethiopia stand a chance of making it out of the group as they will host South Africa next month before they travel to Johannesburg for the return fixture.
Ghana, on the other hand, will also play Zimbabwe at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium before they head to Zimbabwe for the second leg.
