The two top officials of the Miners could be handed five years years ban each if found guilty of the charges

Ghana Football Association’s disciplinary committee has charged Kwaku Frimpong, the president of Ashanti Gold and his son Emmanuel Frimpong, who also doubles as the club’s chief executive officer of their involvement in match fixing scandals.

The duo have been charged on three counts of misconduct for match manipulation in their 2020/21 Ghana Premier League Week 34 match against Inter Allies which was played at Len Clay Stadium on July 17, 2021.

Although, they won 7-0, several allegations popped up after the game which prompted Ghana FA to swiftly take actions.

Inter Allies captain Hashim Musah confessed to scoring two intentional own goals during the clash in order to spoil a correct score which was fixed by both clubs.

Musah came off the bench and scored two own goals in the final 12 minutes, which saw Inter Allies losing 7-0.

According to the disciplinary committee, the duo have been charged for breaching Article 27(1) and 27(2) of the GFA Code of Ethics, Article 18(1) of the GFA Disciplinary Code and Article 34(5)(a) and 34(5)(b) of the GFA Premier League Regulations.

Following the various charges, Kweku Frimpong and his son are expected to mount a solid defence either in person or through writing in order to exonerate themselves or could be slapped with a ten-year ban from football activities respectively.
