The debutants recovered from a poor start to their maiden participation in the top-flight as they pipped Bechem to win their first game in the top-flight
Accra Lions defeated Bechem United 2-1 on matchday four of Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.
The debutants, prior to this game, were without a win after three matches and were seriously in need of three points.
After failing to make use of the chances that fell in their way early in the game, Lions finally had their noses in front.
On 29th minute, Christopher Acheampong shot Lions ahead after he sent in a powerful drive to beat goalkeeper Abdulai Iddrisu.
Rauf Salifu doubled Lions’ lead by the 34th minute after he converted from the penalty spot. The goal marked his third of the season.
However, Augustine Okrah halved the deficit by the hour stage a possible comeback. The 28-year-old rise above his marker to connect a corner kick.
Although, Bechem made offensive substitutions and search of the equalizer but Lions were resolute at the back.
Bechem could not break down the bulwark defence of Lions as the hosts held on to record their historic victory in Ghana Premier League.
