The top-flight’s second round kicked off over the weekend across nine centres and there were some interesting results and behind the scenes

The second round of Ghana Premier League began on Friday as King Faisal pipped struggling WAFA 2-1 in Sogakope while Hearts of Oak shared the spoils 1-1 with Legon Cities at the El Wak Sports Stadium.

On Sunday, Asante Kotoko left it late but defeated Dreams FC 2-0 to complete a double over them thanks to Cameroonian striker Etuoga Mbella Frank Thierry.

The win means Kotoko are now ten points clear at the top as second placed Bechem United narrowly lost to Medeama in Tarkwa thanks to a Vincent Atingah late penalty.

Meanwhile, Aduana Stars returned to winning ways as they ended Karela United’s winning streak with a 2-0 scoreline thanks to a brace from Bright Agyei.

Elsewhere in Obuasi, Ashanti Gold had the shock of their lives as relegation-
threatened Eleven Wonders hammered the 4-1 in front of their home fans. Berekum Chelsea also pipped debutants Gold Stars 1-0 at the Golden City Park in Berekum.

On Monday, Great Olympics will lock horns with Real Tamale United at the Accra Sports Stadium.
