Revealed: Hearts of Oak’s opponents in Caf Confederation Cup JS Souara took FIVE flights before arriving in Ghana

The Algerian club could not board a direct flight from their home to Ghana due to several factors and as a result had to use five different flights in the process

Ghana’s sole representatives in Caf Confederation Cup Hearts of Oak will take on Algerian side JS Saoura in the first leg of the playoffs at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Saoura arrived in Ghana on Friday but had to take several routes before arriving due to financial constraints the club is facing currently, according to reports in Algeria.

Although, the club could have spent only five hours from Algeria to Ghana, they rather spent two days due to several transit at various airports.

They began their journey on Wednesday morning from Bechar to Oran before arriving in Algiers, the capital city of Algeria.

The players and technical team later moved from Algiers to Tunisia and made a transit in the capital city of Tunis. After several hours there, Souara continued their journey to the middle East.

The arrived in Dubai in the early hours of Friday and made a transit there before boarding another flight to Accra, Ghana.

After the game, Souara will have to use the same route back to Algeria and that means that they will arrive in Algeria on Wednesday and have only four days to prepare for the second leg.

This means that if Hearts of Oak take a direct flight to Algeria, they will arrive in the country and have enough time to rest and prepare than Souara who will be playing as hosts.

Souara were drawn bye in the preliminary round of the Confederation Cup before they eliminated ASAC Concorde from Mauritania in the first round with a 3-2 aggregate scoreline.

Hearts, unlike Souara, began this season in Caf Champions League and eliminated Guinean side CI Kamsar in the preliminary round. However, they were booted out by Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club and had to drop to the Confederation Cup.

Souara currently sit ninth on the Algerian Ligue 1 log with seven points but they have one outstanding game at hand.
