The meeting between the Phobians and the first gentleman of the land has been called off at the eleventh hour
Premier League champions Hearts of Oak were scheduled to meet Ghana president His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo on Tuesday evening but the meeting has been officially cancelled, AshesGyamera.com can confirm.
The playing body and technical team as well as some management team members of Hearts of Oak were billed to meet Akufo-Addo at the Flagstaff House following their exploits last season.
Hearts won the league for the first time in almost nine seasons and are the country’s sole representatives in Caf inter-club competitions this season.
Although, they were bundled out of the Caf Champions League after a 6-1 heavy defeat against Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco, the Phobians have another opportunity to make amends.
They will face Algerian side JS Souara in the playoffs of the Caf Confederation Cup. As a result, the president wanted to meet and encourage them as well as support their travels financially.
However, according to AshesGyamera’s sources, the president had a last minute appointment which he couldn’t miss and therefore opted to reschedule his meeting with Hearts players and officials.
“The schedule meeting with the president at the Jubilee House has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. A new date will be confirmed from the Presidency,” a statement from Hearts of Oak read.
It is not unclear when the Phobians will be called again to the Flagstaff House.
