The continent’s football governing body ordered that Ethiopia should pick a new venue for their game against the Black Stars in the World Cup qualifiers

Ethiopia have selected the Nyayo International Sports Stadium as their new home ground to host Ghana in the penultimate game of the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers after the Bahir Sports Stadium in Addis Ababa was banned by Confederation of African Football, according to multiple reports.

CAF banned the Bahir Dar Stadium as a result of stadium non-approval to host international matches since it lacks a lot of things to help ensure COVID-19 protocols are followed to avoid the spread of the deadly disease.

Caf sent a letter to Ethiopia Football Federation to submit a new venue for the game latest by October 20 so that Ghana can be duly notified. And as a result the EFF has written to Kenya Football Federation to allow them use their facility.

Should Kenya FA accept their request, Ethiopia Football Federation will officially notify Caf by the close of work on Wednesday.

This will also help the Black Stars to prepare their travel to the new venue for the game scheduled for November 13 as Ghana are in dire need of the three points at stake.

Ghana defeated Ethiopia in the first leg at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in August and will be hoping to complete a double over them to keep the chase on Group G leaders South Africa.

Should Ethiopia Football Federation fails to communicate a new venue to Caf as requested, the continent’s football governing body will name a new venue and it will likely be played at either Accra Sports Stadium or Cape Coast Sports Stadium as per regulations of the World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana have nine points and sit second in Group G, one point behind leaders South Africa who will also host Zimbabwe in the other game.

Ghana will host South Africa in the last game of the group on November 17 and the outcome will obviously determine who will qualify from the group.
