The quartet failed to live up to the expectations as their efforts in the final was ruled out due to violation of lane

Ghana’s only hope remaining to win another medal at the 2020 Olympic Games was dashed on Friday afternoon after they were disqualified in the final of the 4×100 relay at the Olympic Stadium in Japan.

Sean Safo-Antwi began the race in lane two with a lot of speed and power and successfully handed over the baton to Emmanuel Azamati Kwaku. Although, Ghana were still lacking behind after the change over since the British and Italians had taken unassailable lead, the change of boton in the third attempt killed all dreams.

It was at this point that matters turn from bad to worse as Azamati collided with Emmanuel Yeboah ìn the exchange zone.

Although, Yeboah continued the race and handed over the baton to Joseph Paul Amoah to complete it as they finished in the last position, Ghana was later disqualified due to violation of lane.

As a result, all their efforts were scraped off and their time made erased.

Italy won gold with a time of 37.50s while Britain picked the silver medal with 37.51s. Canada took bronze 37.70s

China broke their national record by making a time of 37.79s but that wasn’t enough to win them a medal.

Ghana has now completed the games with only one medal following youngster Samuel Takyi’s ability to reach the semifinals of Men’s Featherweight Division in Boxing which automatically won him a bronze medal despite losing his fight to American boxer Ragan.
