The striker finally broke his duck against the Saints after going almost fifty goals without a goal

Ghana striker Jordan Ayew was on target for Crystal Palace against Southampton in Premier League at the Selhurst Park on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old has been in a poor run of form in front of goal throughout this season and has come under a lot of pressure from both the club’s technical team and supporters.

However, he finally found his name on the scoreboard on Wednesday as his goal brought Palace level after going behind.

Wilfred Zaha broke the deadlock for Palace after only two minutes when he connected a pass from Odsonne Edouard.

However, Ward-Prowse brought Southampton level from a free-kick by the 32nd minute before Armando Broja made it 2-1 for Southampton.

Ayew found himself in a perfect position to calmly tap in a shot from Edouard to pull even for Palace.

The goal was Ayew’s first goal in 43 Premier League matches, last netting against Leeds in November 2020.

It is also the 24th of his 27 Premier League goals to be scored in the second half which represents 89 per cent.
