Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Razak Abalora has revealed that he is hoping to become the first choice goalkeeper of his new side Sherif Tiraspol.

The 25-year-old signed a three-year deal with the Moldovan champions last week and has began training with them ahead of their participation in the Uefa Europa League next month against Sporting Braga.

“I’m definitely ready to compete for the first choice. My position in general always mean working and always being prepared for every game, regardless of mainly the line up for the match,” Abalora said in his first interview with the club’s media, as monitored by AshesGyamera.com

“Who starts the game is solely the choice of the coach. The one who is better and ready will play so I’m ready fir the challenge.

“Every goalkeeper should be disciplined, hardworking and have intelligence at the highest level. To be a good goalkeeper, you should have these three qualities and it will make you better,” he added.

Abalora also shed light on why he chose to join Sherif Tiraspol as his first club in Europe and how he has been treated by the new coaches and teammates

“I want to grow as a player and in the near future to be stronger than I am now. Sherif is a great club that meet everything I want in my career.

“Everything is fine since I arrived. The whole team welcomed me well and everyone is friendly. I met the coaching staff and adaptation is going on well for me,” he said.

Abalora has become the fourth Ghanaian at the club after Edmund Addo, Abdul Basit Khalid and Patrick Kpozo, who signed for the club three days before Abalora.
