The Porcupine Warriors be boss insists he has quality players to he help him challenge for the league trophy next season
Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Ogum Narteh believes the club has quality players to win the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.
The 44-year-old signed a two-year deal with the club last week to replace Mariano Baretto whose contract was mutually terminated.
Although, Baretto slammed the lackadaisical approach some of the players exhibited during last season and his assistant coach Johnson Smith added that only four players deserved to play for the club, the new coach has other ideas.
He insists there is a lot of quality among the squad and they should be able to win trophies if only they blend into a quality team.
āI think we have the quality to let us play and win trophies this season. I believe that talent will always win you games, teamwork will let you win championships,” Narteh told the media at training ground.
“I believe that the quality we have now, if Iām able to blend them into a good team that knows its structure, that knows how to move with and without the ball, tactical awareness, what they have to do with and without the ball and giving them information about the opponent ā how the play on offence and defense, I think once these things are done at training, with the quality we have in the team, we should be good to go,ā he added.
Following the departure of the club’s captain Felix Annan, midfielder Augustine Okrah and defender Wahab Adams, Kotoko have also signed Inter Allies prodigy Richmond Lamptey, Clinton Opoku from Phar Rangers and defender Maxwell Agyemang from Wamanafo Mighty Royals to bolster the squad.
Narteh also guided his former club WAFA to finish third, behind Kotoko and he is expected to work magic around for the Porcupine Warriors this season.
