The Porcupine Warriors have finally announced the arrival of the forward in a three-year deal
Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have announced the signing of midfielder Stephen Amankonah from Berekum Chelsea in a three-year deal.
The 26-year-old became a transfer target for Kotoko following the mutual termination of the contract of former deputy captain Emmanuel Gyamfi.
The forward caught the eye of Kotoko new coach Prosper Ogum Narteh and he requested the club to hand him a contract to fill the void left behind by Gyamfi.
“We’re delighted to announce the signing of forward Stephen Amankona on a three-year deal from Berekum Chelsea. Let’s welcome him,” a Kotoko statement read.
Amankonah joins Richard Boadu, Samuel Appiah, Richmond Lamptey, Maxwell Agyemang, Clinton Opoku, Sherrif Mohammed, Dickson Yaw ‘Dick’ Afoakwa and Stephen Boateng as the new signees to arrive at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. He is currently in Dubai to join the Kotoko team as they undergo their pre-season tour in the Gulf region.
Last season, Kotoko failed to win the Ghana Premier League title as they finished behind fierce rivals Hearts of Oak and were also knocked out in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup.
