The Serbian manager believes the Black Stars were unlucky to lose against Morocco in the opening game of Group C
Ghana Coach Milovan Rajevac has insisted that his charges were the better side despite losing 1-0 defeat to Morocco in Group C opening game of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations ongoing in Cameroon.
A late goal by Soufiane Boufal broke the hearts of the Black Stars after both sides looked to be heading to a draw.
“Up till the moment we conceded, we were in full control of the match. We missed many chances and Morocco were a bit luckier in the end to score and win the game,” Milovan said after the game.
A lot of people have raised concerns about Ghana’s lack of early substitutions when Andre Ayew was struggling after a head collision with Saiss and Jordan Ayew failing to create opportunities but Milovan believes his charges were on top of the game and it wasn’t necessary to alter their play.
“Everything was really tight and I felt the team was functioning well, so there was no need to make unnecessary substitutions,” he said.
With Gabon also defeating Comoros 1-0 in the other group game, Ghana are now languishing at the bottom of the Group C table.
They will play Gabon on Friday and must avoid another defeat in order to stand a chance of progressing to the next stage of the competition
