Media accreditation for 2026 Commonwealth Games opened; check what you need to apply

After a long wait, the accreditation process for 2026 Commonwealth Games has officially been launched for interested journalists across the globe to apply


Media accreditation for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games is now open.  

This application form is for the following media groups: 

  • Written and online press 
  • Photographers and photo technicians 
  • Non-rights holding TV broadcasters  
  • Non-rights holding radio broadcasters 
  • Content creators  
  • Podcasters 

Any rights holding broadcasters wishing to be accredited should contact their organisation’s accreditation liaison officer for more information.  

Accreditation Categories and Permissions 

At Games-time there are three accreditation categories for the media – Press (E), Photographer (Ep) and Non-Rights Holder (ENR). 

Content creators and podcasters please note that if you are approved for accreditation you will fall into the category of non-rights holding broadcaster as your work involves moving images and sound.  

All accredited media should be aware that there are restrictions on what you can record and post from Games venues in order to protect the commercial deals with the rights holding broadcasters. 

Application Process 

This form is a simple, one step application for individuals.  

There is another option for organisations wishing to make multiple applications on behalf of their staff. If you are applying for more than 10 people from your organisation this may be suitable so please get in touch with us to discuss – [email protected] 

Once you have submitted your form, your application will be reviewed by Glasgow 2026. You will be advised by email if you’ve been successful or not. If you are approved, you’ll receive details about pass collection.

Media Accreditation — what to expect?

This form is for written and online press, photographers, non-rights holding TV and radio broadcasters, content creators and podcasters only.

Rights holding broadcasters should refer to their organisation’s accreditation liaision officer.

Please note that you will not be able to save and come back to this form so please ensure you have the following information to hand before you start: 

  1. Passport or UK driving licence details
  2. A passport-style photograph (please see the accreditation photo guidelines here)
  3. Your contact details
  4. Your organisation’s contact details, including those of your assigning editor.

Note that the News Access Rules, which outline restrictions on the collection and use of content, will be sent separately for you to acknowledge prior to the Games.
