Ghana’s young striker Felix Afena-Gyan was shown a red card in AS Roma’s 2-0 home win over Spezia Calcio in Serie A on Monday.
The youngster started the game from the bench and was only thrown into action by Jose Mourinho by the 66th minute.
Afena-Gyan replaced Borjan Mayoral when Roma took a 2-0 lead through Chris Smalling and Jordan Veretout but he failed to grab the headlines in a positive way.
He was booked by the 70th minute after a poor tackle on a Spezia player before taking an early shower deep in additional time.
The 18-year-old latched on a pass from his teammate and perfectly sent his effort on target. Although, he ran to celebrate the goal with the supporters, it was later revealed that he handled the ball with his hand in the process and then received his second caution.
He will know miss the away trip to Atalanta over the weekend.
Afena-Gyan’s countryman Emmanuel Gyasi lasted the entire duration for Spezia. He was booked by the 90th minute after a hot argument with the referee.
