Ghana Football Association’s vice president George Afriyie is currently in the Brong Ahafo region in a bid to meet top hierarchy of clubs and share with them his vision ahead of the 2019 GFA elections, AshesGyamera can confirm.
With Kwesi Nyantakyi confirming that he will not seek another term in office, Afriyie is considered as one of the candidates to vie for the position which will be vacant.
AshesGyamera‘s sources have revealed that Afriyie after watching Asante Kotoko’s games against CARA Brazzaville in Kumasi on Sunday left for Sunyani on Monday before arriving in Berekum. He spent some time with Berekum Arsenal owner Alhaji Yakubu Moro who was admitted at one of the hospitals in the municipality.
According to our sources, a sunyani-based football administrator called Alhaji Two Weeks, who is with Techiman Eleven Wonders, is the one coordinating all the meetings for George Afriyie.
It is rumoured that Afriyie has promised to pay the affiliation fees for all the division one league clubs in the region if they support him to ascend the throne
Nyantakyi named Afriyie as the new Ghana FA vice president in November 2015 to replace Fred Crenstil, after the former was voted on to the executive committee.
