The Hammers boss has set sight on signing the Ghanaian to bolster his midfield in a bid to avoid relegation
West Ham United manager David Moyes has expressed his interest to sign Newcastle United winger Christian Atsu in the January transfer window, according to Newcastle Echo.
The 26-year-old has been one of the brightest spots in Rafael Benitez’s set-up this season, after making his loan spell from Chelsea permanent during last summer.
With West Ham seriously entangled in the relegation battle, Moyes has made Atsu one of the top players in his wishlist after the winger caught his eye following his splendid performance when the two clubs met earlier this season. Atsu scored one of Newcastle’s goals in that particular game but West Ham must double their efforts since Benitez revealed last week his unwillingness to sell any of his first team players.
West Ham already have Ghana’s deputy captain Andre Ayew in their team but the former Swansea City star has not hit the top form the club anticipated. He has scored only three goals after 18 games including nine starts.
AshesGyamera understands that Moyes will switch attention to Middlesbrough youngster Adama Traore as Atsu’s availability seems unlikely.
