Ghana shared the spoils 1-1 with Algeria in the first leg of 2023 U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Friday.

After a pulsating first half where chances were at the premium, with the exception of goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim saving a penalty, Ghana doubled their efforts to take the lead.

Sporting CP youngster Abdul Fatawu Issahaku scored a wonderful goal by the 83rd minute to give Black Galaxies the lead and silenced the few spectators in the stadium.

The former Dreams FC prodigy controlled a pass from his teammate and spotted Algeria goalkeeper off his line before he sent in a long shot from centre.

The goalkeeper was late to recover as Ghana celebrated the opener.

Although, the Black Stars were resolute at the back, their quest for clean sheet and victory were dashed as Algeria won another penalty deep in additional time.

Danlad could not save Ghana for the second time in the game from the spot as Algeria levelled the scores.
