The Phobians made another huge statement as they continue with their fine tuning for the first leg of the continental showpiece

Ghana Premier League champions Hearts of Oak thrashed Dzida FC 6-1 in a friendly at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

With first choice goalkeeper Richard Attah on international duties with Ghana, coach Samuel Boadu started Richard Baidoo in post and captain Fatawu Mohammed played as the right wing back.

Raddy Ovouka also took charge of the left wing back while Mohammed Alhassan and Robert Addo Sowah were deployed as the two centre backs.

In midfield, Salim Adams and Frederick Ansah Botchway occupied the defensive roles while Ibrahim Salifu and Daniel Afriyie Barnieh were used on the left and right wings respectively.

Kofi Kordzi and Isaac Mensah were used as the two strikers in a 4-4-2 formation.

Two goals from midfielder Daniel Afriyie Barnieh gave the Phobians a perfect start to the game ad that unsettled the lower tier side.

Later, a goal each from strikers Kofi Kordzi and Isaac Mensah ensured that Hearts were in the driving seat.

Substitute Patrick Razak and Salifu Ibrahim also found the back of the net before Dzida FC also scored a consolation after finding a breach in Hearts’ defence.

Hearts will host Wydad Athletic Club from Morocco on October 17 at the Accra Sports Stadium before the reverse fixture takes place a week later in Rabat, Morocco.

The winner after the tie will advance to the group stages of the Champions League while the loser drops to the Cat Confederation Cup.

Hearts defeated CI Kamsar from Guinea in the preliminary round while Wydad Athletic Club were drawn bye.
