The midfielder will have to arrive in the country on another as he missed his flight on Monday morning
Asante Kotoko new midfielder Fabio da Silva Gama could not arrive in the country on Monday as scheduled, AshesGyamera.com can confirm.
The 28-year-old joined the Kumasi-based club as a free agent last month after concluding his deal with Swedish lower-tier side Jonkoping IF. However, due to paperwork and Coronavirus disease restrictions, the Brazilian could not arrive on time for the club’s pre-season training and missed their opening day game against Techiman Eleven Wonders on Sunday.
In spite of this, he was expected to land at the Kotoko International Airport in the afternoon of Monday and a lot of the club’s supporters went to await his arrival to give him a befitting welcome but ended in tears.
After several hours of waiting, the supporters was advised by the club’s top hierarchy that Fabio Gama will not be in since a new arrangement has been done for the Brazilian.
With Kotoko seriously eyeing the top-flight and aiming for at least qualification to the group stage of Caf Champions League, Gama who will be wearing the iconic number 10 is expected to bring on board his vast experience to help coach Maxwell Konadu to attain the desired results.
Gama, has had stints in the past with Varnamo and Botafogo and became the tenth signing by Kotoko after the likes of Emmanuel Keyekeh, Sulley Muniru, Evans Adomako, Razak Abalora and Andrew Appau among others.
