The legendary striker has admitted to suspicions that he lacks the match fitness as Ghana Premier League kicks off this weekend
Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has confirmed reports that he is unfit to play in the opening games of the Ghana Premier League.
The 34-year-old signed a mega deal with Legon Cities FC on transfer deadline day and was expected to play a crucial role in the Royals’ opening day fixture against Berekum Chelsea.
However, he has admitted that he will need a lot of time to regain his fitness and confidence before he can play.
“To be honest, I am not ready [for the start of Ghana Premier League]. I am not fully fit to play now,” Gyan told TV3.
“But I am still working hard and hopefully I will be able to get myself ready as time goes on,” he added.
Gyan was initially expected to sign for Asante Kotoko but the move fell through after reports suggested that the technical ànd management team felt his health conditions don’t match up with his demands.
