The winger scored twice as the Ogya Boys brushed aside WAFA in Dormaa Ahenkro to close the gap between them and Kotoko on Saturday
Aduana Stars defeated WAFA 3-0 in matchday six of Ghana Premier League at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park in Dormaa Ahenkro on Saturday.
Despite a poor start to the season, the former champions seem to have gotten their mojo back as they have now picked three wins in a row.
After a pulsating opening exchanges in the game, defender Hafiz Adams broke the deadlock for Aduana with a fine finish by the eight minute.
Ten minutes later, Sam Adams and Bright Adjei combined to create an opening in the visitors’ defence but the latter’s last ditch effort narrowly missed the target.
Emmanuel Gyamfi finally made it 2-0 for Aduana by the 31st minute. The former Asante Kotoko deputy captain latched onto a pass and calmly slotted in the ball beyond the reach of goalkeeper Osei Kwadwo Bonsu.
After the break, Aduana had several opportunities to extend their lead but their forwards were sluggish in the final third of WAFA’s area.
Gyamfi, however, found himself in a great position to score the third goal of the day by the 70th minute.
He even came close to score his first-ever hat-trick in the league but his effort was blocked six minutes later.
Aduana after the win have moved four places up to third position with 11 points, two behind Asante Kotoko who have a game in hand against King Faisal.
Aduana will host Great Olympics next weekend before they travel to Len Clay Sports Stadium in Obuasi to face Ashanti Gold a week later.
