The Cameroonian striker netted his second hat-trick of the season for the Porcupine Warriors but there were controversies surrounding the third goal

Asante Kotoko striker Etuoga Mbella Frank Thierry scored hat-trick when they defeated Accra Lions 3-1 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday.

Although, there were debates surrounding his third goal of the day, a footage from StarTimes have surfaced to clear the doubts.

In the footage, it can be clearly seen that before young defender Augustine Agyapong’s long pass to Mbella, the Cameroonian striker was in an onside position as he was several metres behind the two centre defenders of Lions.

However, he managed to out-muscled them to win the ball, before rounding up the goalkeeper and calmly slotted in the goal.

Kotoko lead the Premier League title race with 36 points, six points above Bechem United who also shared the spoils 1-1 with Berekum Chelsea in the Bono and Ahafo derby at the Golden City Park in Berekum on Friday.

Kotoko will travel to Accra on Sunday to play Hearts of Oak in the outstanding league game.
