“It will be strange for Kudus to play in Afcon,” Ajax coach Erik Ten Hag

The Black Stars may have to plan life without the youngster after his coach revealed that he is still not fit to play games

Ajax Amsterdam coach Erik Ten Hag has dashed the hopes of Ghanaians after suggesting that it is near impossible for midfielder Kudus Mohammed to play for Ghana in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 21-year-old has been nursing an injury since November last year but he was named among Ghana’s 28-man squad to represent the West African country at the tournament.

Although, he is yet to arrive in camp after two games, as the Black Stars continue to struggle in his absence, Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac must plan life without him.

The Black Stars lost 1-0 on opening day to Morocco before sharing the spoils 1-1 with Gabon on Friday.

“[Not including him in the Ajax squad against Utrecht] already proves what I’ve said all along. He is not [match] fit and it would be strange if he would join the [AFCON]. He is still yet to get fully better,” Ten Hag said

The Black Stars left their base in Yaounde on Sunday and have headed to Garoua to prepare for the final game against Comoros on Tuesday.

They need to defeat Comoros to stand the chance of qualifying to the next stage as runners up in the group or one of the best four third-place countries.
