The dribbling magician believes there are no top indigenous coaches to take the top national team job after the sacking of C.K Akonnor

Former Ghana midfielder Mohammed Polo has insisted that no local coach can handle the Black Stars following the sacking of Charles Kwablah Akonnor on Monday.

Akonnor was shown the exit after a poor run of results as he could only manage four wins after 14 games.

Although, reports suggest that Ghana government who pays the national team coaches has insisted only local coached must be appointed, Polo believes the current crop of coaches are not up to the standard since they have not been groomed well.

“We are having a problem because we are not developing our coaches. The FA doesn’t have any criteria for the development processes” Polo told Kumasi based OTEC FM

“Who is coming on board if we decide to go for in for another local coach?

“We will have some things to tell Ghana FA officials should they bring in any foreign coach and he fails. You should empower your local coaches. We need to go deeper, what is happening goes deeper than what we are seeing,” he added.

Reports in the media suggest that one of Otto Addo, Ibrahim Tanko and Karim Zito may be appointed to lead the Black Stars in the game against Zimbabwe in the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers next month.
