The Ghanaian champions flattered to deceive as they bottled a golden opportunity to pick their first ever point in Caf Champions League
Medeama suffered a 3-0 defeat to giants Al Ahly in the Caf Champions League Group D opening game in Cairo, Egypt on Saturday evening.
Ahead of the game, Medeama coach Evans Adotey was optimistic of causing a major havoc in Cairo and he initially seemed to be walking his talk.
The Yellow and Mauve were resolute in the first half of the game as they made sure Ahly were left frustrated.
The defending champions found it extremely difficult to break down the resilient defence of Medeama as they prevented the hosts from creating chances and scoring goals.
However, after the break Ahly finally found a breach in Medeama’s defence and opened the scoring after poor substitution from Adotey played a major role.
Mahmoud Kahraba pounced on a defensive lapse and sent his effort beyond the reach of goalkeeper Felix Kyei by the 66th minute.
Shahat added another after a defensive blunder on 75th minute before Salah Moshen sealed the victory with a header by the 88th minute.
Medeama, who currently sit third on the Group D log, will welcome CR Belouzdad to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday.
