The top-flight will finally start this weekend after weeks of continuous legal tussle between the football association and the Wonder Club
The 2017-18 Ghana Premier League season is expected to finally commence this weekend, Ghana FA has confirmed.
Great Olympics saw their injunction against the football association thrown out on Thursday by an Accra High Court presided over by Justice Anthony Yeboah. Any ruling in favour of Olympics would’ve seen either Elmina Sharks and Bechem United relegated while they rather survive.
” The Ghana Football Association (GFA) wishes to inform all stakeholders and the sporting public that the 2017/ 18 League season commences this weekend,” a GFA statement read.
“This comes after Thursday’s court dismissal of the case between Great Olympics FC and the GFA for an interlocutory injunction on the start of the Premier and Division leagues.
“All clubs and stakeholders are to take note accordingly,” the statement added.
The game between Aduana Stars and Liberty Professionals has been postponed following the formers’s participation in the Caf Champions League. The Fire Club will play Algerian side E.S Setif in the second leg of the last qualifying round in their bid to make it to the group stage of the competition for the first time in their history.
They head into the game with a 1-0 advantage.
