The Phobians top hierarchy have released a statement to apologise to their teeming supporters following the humiliation they suffered in Morocco on Sunday
Hearts of Oak have apologised for their heavy 6-1 defeat to Wydad Athletic Club in the second leg of Caf Champions League played at the Mohammed V Sports Stadium in Casablanca on Sunday.
The Phobians, who went into the game with a lot of confidence following the 1-0 win in the first leg, were completely outclassed, outplayed and outfought as they succumbed to a 6-1 drubbing even though the game was played behind closed doors.
The Phobians were already shipping in goals by half time as they were down by four goals.
They returned from the break and further conceded two goals while substitute Patrick Razak got the consolation very late in the game after he connected a pass from Emmanuel Nettey.
The club’s top hierarchy admits their performance was an “embarrassment” but believes they can make amends since they have been offered another opportunity to play in the Caf Confederation Cup.
“We succumbed to a painful defeat in Morocco because we were nowhere close to our best on the night,” the club’s statement read.
“We know that we are capable of a much better performance than what we showed in Morocco.
Hearts eliminated Guinean side CI Kamsar in the preliminary round while Wydad AC were drawn bye.
