The Porcupine Warriors chief was in attendance when the Saints welcome Liverpool in the Premier League title decider
Asante Kotoko chief executive officer Nana Yaw Amponsah was at the Saint Mary’s Sports Stadium when Southampton lost 2-1 to Liverpool in the penultimate game of the Premier League campaign.
With Liverpool trailing Manchester City three points before kick off, the Reds were in a dire need of victory to help them challenge Pep Guardiola’s men for the Premier League title. Therefore, they travelled to Southampton with full of hopes close in at the top.
However, Nathan Redmond gave Southampton the lead by the 13th minute after his shot took a wicked deflection on James Milner and went past goalkeeper Elisson Barker.
However, Minamino equalised for Liverpool on the 26th minute from close range after latching on to a pass from Jota.
Liverpool finally went ahead in the game after the break through Joel Matip and held on to win the game.
Any results apart from victory could have dent Liverpool’s title hopes. They are now one point behind Manchester City ahead of the final round of matches slated for this weekend.
Amponsah is expected to meet with Southampton management on how to help the Ghanaian giants develop their youth team as part of the partnership between the two clubs.
