Jordan Ayew put up a man of the match performance as Swansea City brushed aside Arsenal 3-1 in the Premier League at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday.
After going down on 33rd minute through Nacho Monreal’s opener, when he latched onto a long pass from Mezut Ozil, Swansea regrouped and responded quickly.
Sam Clucas benefited from a mistake from Ozil after the German international was robbed off the ball and Clucas calmly slotted in his effort past goalkeeper Petr Cech by the 34th minute.
Although, Arsenal bossed the midfield for the remainder of the first half, they couldn’t find a breach in Swansea’s resilient defence any longer.
A fter the break, Carlos Carvalhal’s side doubled their efforts and could’ve punished Arsenal if they were more purposeful upfront.
However, after several failed attempts, Jordan Ayew put the Welsh side in front for the first in the game by the 61st minute, to compound Arsene Wenger’s troubles.
With Arsenal pushing men forward for the equaliser, as Chelsea target Olivier Giroud coming on for Nigerian international Alex Iwobi, Swansea doubled their advantage.
Ayew raced down the right flank and went past his marker to make it into the Arsenal box and although the Gunners tried to clear their lines, Clucas benefited from a poor clearance and shot beyond a helpless Petr Cech to silence the away supporters and send the vociferous home fans into wild jubilations.
Ayew has now scored four goals in his last seven appearances in the league after going a frustrating 15-game with a goal.
Swansea have now moved four places up to 16th position with 23 points tied on points with Stoke City who sit 17th on the log while Arsenal now sit eight points away from the top four slot with 42 points.
AshesGyamera understands that Jordan’s senior brother Andre Ayew, is likely to join Swansea on transfer deadline day.
