Asante Kotoko suffer major blow as they will face WAFA on Boxing Day without Ganiu; Check why?

The Porcupine Warriors will take on the Academy Boys during the Christmas festivities without their skipper after he was suspended due to accumulated yellow cards

Asante Kotoko will host WAFA on matchday ten of Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium without captain Abdul Ganiu Ismail.

The 25-year-old picked up a yellow card in the game against Legon Cities at Dawu and that has ruled him out of the fixture in Kumasi since he now has three yellow cards to his name.

This means that Prosper Ogum Narteh will now have to rely on Andrew Appau, Yussif Mubarik and Maxwell Agyemang for the game against WAFA.

Meanwhile, midfielder Richard Boadu ‘Agadas’ will be welcomed back after missing the game against Legon Cities through suspension. The box-to-box midfielder will likely pair with Mudasiru Salifu and Richmond Lamptey in midfield.

However, Ganiu will be eligible for the FA Cup Round of 64 fixture against King Faisal on December 28 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Asante Kotoko will be without midfielder Richard Boadu ‘Agadas’ ahead of Ghana Premier League game against Legon Cities at the Theater of Dreams in Dawu.

The former Medeama star is out of the game due to accumulated yellow cards after picking up a booking against RTU in midweek.

Sunday’s HOT Betting odds; make quick money from Ghana Premier League

Ahead of matchday nine of Ghana Premier League, AshesGyamera has put together some interesting odds which could make you smile

Table toppers Aduana Stars will be hosting Berekum Chelsea in the Bono derby at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park in Dormaa Ahenkro.

Aduana, who have won their last games are expected to add Chelsea to their casualties. A win is 70 per cent assured.

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko after an incredible start to the season, seem to have removed their leg from the accelerator. They are yet to win a game in their last three outings, sharing the spoils in two and surprisingly losing at home to city rivals King Faisal in the Kumasi derby a fortnight ago.

This weekend, they head to Dawu to lock horns with Legon Cities how are coached by underfire Maxwell Konadu. Legon have won only one of their seven games played this season and any results apart from victory could see Konadu out of the club. From us here, we believe it is a double chance for Kotoko at worse.

Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak who picked their first win of the season during midweek against Elmina Sharks, are expected to make it two wins in a row as they host debutants Accra Lions at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

Although, Augustine Okrah has been in fine form since rejoining Bechem United, he is yet to exert himself in all away games played. Bechem trek to Ainyinase to face Karela on Sunday and we are anticipating more than a goal in the game and a double chance for Karela. A Bechem win will be a big surprise and that would mean that Okrah would’ve to be at his topmost best.

‘I deserve better’ – David Abagna fed up with being underrated by journalists & coaches

The midfielder lived up to the expectations last weekend as he netted the equaliser against Asante Kotoko and he has called on journalists and coaches to start rating him higher

Real Tamale United captain David Abagna Sangna says he is “fed up” with how journalists and national team coaches have treated him over the years, insisting he “deserves better” for his performances.

The midfielder has been one of the most exciting talents this season in Ghana Premier League after joining RTU from Ashanti Gold. He scored a late equaliser for RTU against Asante Kotoko last weekend and his goal silenced the vociferous home supporters at Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

However, Abagna feels he does not receive the needed recognition amid his consistent performances and has always been overlooked by coaches during call ups to the national team.

“I think that, may be I don’t have influential friends in the media space, that’s why I don’t get a lot said about me but I think I deserve more. My statistics from WA All Stars (Legon Cities) to Ashanti Gold and now at RTU are there for all to see,” Abagna told Angel FM Accra.

“When I was at AshGold, I had better statistics but when the local Black Stars was announced, Yaw Annorl was the one invited.

“Even Yaw and my own teammates were surprised with the decision. I’ve scored double figures in all the full seasons I had as a midfielder,” he added.

Abagna has scored seven goals and provided one assist after eight league games this season for RTU.

Ahead of the announcement of Ghana’s provisional squad for 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, a lot of Ghanaians have argued that his fine performance should not go unnoticed.

However, reports in the local media have suggested that Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac has selected only four players from the league as part of his provisional squad and Abagna was not an option.

Asante Kotoko captain Abdul Ganiu Ismail made the squad after Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu turned down the opportunity to represent Ghana.

Other local players reportedly named in Ghana’s squad include Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Richard Attah and Dreams FC duo of Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Philimon Baffour.

According to Ghana FA, the Black Stars who have been paired with Morocco, Gabon and Comoros in Group C at the Afcon, will open camp in Doha, Qatar on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 ahead of the tournament holding in Cameroon.

The team will be in Doha for a period of three weeks to prepare for the Tournament scheduled for Cameroon from January 9 to February 6, 2022.

The Black Stars will play three International friendly matches in Qatar to give Coach Milovan Rajevac the opportunity to assess his squad for the Tournament.

Ghana are expected to play a yet to named club side on Tuesday, December 28, before taking on one of the Africa Cup of Nations qualified teams on Friday, January 1, 2022 in another friendly.

The team will wrap up their test matches against African Champions Algeria on Wednesday, January 5, 2022.

The Black Stars will depart Doha for Yaoundé on Friday, January 7, 2022 to take on the rest of Africa at the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II gives strong warning to Kurt Okraku and Ghana FA on bad officiating

The paramount chief of the Asante kingdom has warned the leadership of the country’s football governing body to improve on officiating in league games

Asante Kingdom’s paramount chief, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has warned Ghana Football Association top hierarchy to help the standard of officiating in Ghana Premier League before things get out of hands.

The FA president Kurt Okraku and some members of the association’s executive council paid a courtesy call on Otumfuo at his Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Wednesday.

There have been concerns raised about officiating especially from Asante Kotoko fans following their side’s painful defeat against city rivals King Faisal in the Kumasi derby.

“If you don’t make sure to protect the game from bad officiating, it will spoil the game,” Otumfuo warned the FA top hierarchy present at Manhyia.

“We also have to be trustful because if we don’t get a worthy winner for our league, they will easily fall off when it matters most [in Caf inter-club competitions].

“Thus, it is because the rules work perfectly at this highest level. The referees should be firm in their calls if it’s a penalty, they should take it and should hesitate to do same when it’s offside,” he added.

Ahead of the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations holding in Cameroon, only one Ghanaian referee (Daniel Laryea) was selected among 64 others referees to officiate the games.
