Ahead of the opening games of the juvenile league in the Ahafo region, an unfortunate incident took place on Thursday and nearly took the lives of two ‘football people’
Asunafo North and South district football chairman Collins Yaw Jnr (King CY) and class one female referee Vida Yenube were involved in an accident on Thursday evening, AshesGyamera.com can confirm.
The duo were returning to Ahafo regional capital Goaso from a nearby village called Fawohoyɛdɛ after dropping off some referees who came to participate in the final training sessions ahead of the start of the District Juvenile League over this weekend.
Their car failed its brake when it was applied leading to the unfortunate incident.
“We had final preparations ahead of the weekend’s schedules so that we will not have any hitches. I decided to drop off some of the referees and on our way back to the regional capital, we were involved in an accident,” Collins told AshesGyamera.com.
“Fortunately for us, there was no death recorded but we picked up some injuries and have been to the Goaso Municipal hospital for treatments. Vida is a class one referee and officiates in the Women’s Premier League.
“My only worry now is the vehicle I was using since it is not a personal one but a company’s official car (Genesis Radio). However, once there is life, there is hope so I will deal with that with my bosses and then do my best for the juvenile league to also start because other districts began theirs last weekend,” he added.
