The Red and Whites manager is ruing the missed opportunity to sign the Ghana defender in the January transfer window
PSV Eindhoven manager Philip Cocu has expressed his disappointment after missing out on signing Ghana defender Agbenyenu Lumor in the just-concluded January transfer window.
The 21-year-old agreed personal terms with the Dutch Eredivise side but opted to sign for Portuguese side Sporting CP from Portimonense on transfer deadline day.
And the Red and Whites boss admits they didn’t do things right but hopes they will make amends in the winter.
“We have been looking for a left-back for a long time, and it was annoying that things went wrong at the last minute, Cocu told FOX Sports.
“We could and should have done this better [by signing Agbenyenu]. It is really disappointing but we will hope for the best in the next window,” he added.
Agbenyenu boasts of four appearances for Ghana and he is likely to make his bow this weekend for Sporting against Estoril.
