The football governing body’s spokesperson has admitted that they are counting on the Premier League side for the update on Thomas Partey

Ghana Football Association’s director of communications Henry Asante Twum has revealed that Thomas Teye Partey is not yet ruled out of the Black Stars’ 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan on Thursday.

According to Twum, the medical team are waiting for an injury update from Premier League giants Arsenal after Partey picked a knock on Sunday in the 3-0 home defeat to Aston Villa.

Aside Partey, defender Harrison Afful and Majeed Ashimeru are expected to miss the game. As a result, seven new players including Afriyie Acquah and Asante Kotoko defender Christopher Nettey as well as AshantiGold star Kwadwo Amoako have been handed a late call up.

“We’re expecting information on Thomas Teye Partey today from Arsenal,” Twum told Nhyira FM in an interview.

“We’re waiting on whether he will be available for the Black Stars ahead of the double header against Sudan in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

“Whether he comes on miss the game, I don’t think it will affect us too much. I don’t also think the exemption of some players will affect the results but I think it will rather be an opportunity for the new players to prove their capabilities,” he added.

AshesGyamera.com understands that ten Black Stars players began training on Monday but six new players also arrived on Tuesday morning.

The second leg is expected to take place in Khartoum on November 19.
